About the role
As an AI/ML Engineer on the Intelligence team, you'll design and implement the systems that transform structured project knowledge into contextual AI assistance. You'll work on RAG pipelines, embedding models, knowledge graph reasoning, and the advisory enforcement engine. Your work will make Hopsule's AI genuinely useful - not just a chat interface, but a system that truly understands project history and architectural intent.
What you'll do
- Design and implement RAG pipelines that retrieve relevant decisions and memories for AI context
- Build and optimize embedding generation for the knowledge graph
- Develop the advisory enforcement engine that surfaces policy warnings without blocking workflows
- Create conflict detection algorithms that identify contradictions between new decisions and existing project context
- Optimize token usage and context window management for multi-provider AI support
- Experiment with and evaluate new LLM capabilities for developer assistance use cases
- Build evaluation frameworks to measure the quality and relevance of AI outputs
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of ML/AI engineering experience with production deployments
- Strong Python proficiency and experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google)
- Hands-on experience building RAG systems with vector databases and embedding models
- Understanding of knowledge graphs, graph traversal, and semantic search
- Experience with prompt engineering, context window optimization, and output quality evaluation
- Familiarity with ML experiment tracking and model evaluation methodologies
Nice to have
- Experience with developer tools or code analysis systems
- Background in NLP, information retrieval, or knowledge representation
- Familiarity with Go (our API layer is written in Go)
- Experience building multi-tenant AI systems with usage-based billing
